KATIE BUERKETT, CPA, CFP®

Katie Buerkett serves as an Investment Advisor working directly with Mary McGrath. She provides various portfolio management, financial planning, and tax preparation services to help meet our clients’ needs.

Katie is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Illinois and also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. She graduated with high honors from the University of Illinois in 2009 with her Bachelor’s and  Master’s degrees in Accountancy. Katie spent the first several years in the KPMG Chicago office working in their Federal Tax Practice with a focus on the alternative investments space, particularly real estate investment funds. She subsequently spent five years with Bank of America Corporation in their corporate headquarters located in Charlotte, NC. Katie worked in a variety of capacities within the Bank’s Corporate Tax Department fulfilling tax compliance, planning and advisory functions prior to moving back to the Champaign-Urbana area with her husband and 3 children to join the Cozad team in 2019.
