Cozad Asset Management is a Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm, which means we have a fiduciary duty to our clients – a fundamental obligation to always provide investment advice that works in their best interest. We measure our success through longstanding relationships built on trust. Yes, you can expect us to design customized investment strategies to help align your financial goals, investment preferences, and risk tolerance with your overall financial picture. You can also expect us to responsibly steward your assets, driven by our call to personalized service and your best interests.
Our clients work directly with one of our investment advisors to assess their goals and determine suitable investment strategies. We begin by developing a thorough understanding of your financial situation. We construct the investment strategy and make investment selections based on your particular needs, interests, and concerns. Throughout the year, we monitor performance, replacing investments and rebalancing portfolios. Over time, we expect to meet with our clients at least annually to review investment portfolios and discuss changes to life situations.
No two clients are the same, and our advice and product selection is tailored accordingly. In managed accounts we can use a full range of investments products including individual stocks and bonds, ETFs, mutual funds, and options. Our investment advisors build custom investment portfolios for each client using these investment products and when suitable may recommend one of our proprietary investment strategies below. Through investment partners, we are also able to offer a range of annuity and insurance options when appropriate.
Our fees are very competitive within our industry. Fees are discussed and agreed to at the outset of a relationship. Typically they are a fixed percentage of assets under management.
We offer four unique strategies that can be used by any Cozad advisor in client portfolios, when appropriate.
Large Cap CoreStrategy
Our Large Cap Core Strategy invests in large, high quality, global companies available at reasonable price-to-earnings ratios with a longer term, lower turnover objective. The strategy employs the Growth at a Reasonable Price investment philosophy, seeking to obtain growth stocks at value prices. The strategy’s equity analysis concentrates on price-to-earnings and price-to-cash flow ratios, return on equity, earnings growth, price momentum, and other financial and market data. The strategy features 20 to 30 stocks and is tailored to address each client’s specific goals and objectives.
Enhanced IndexStrategy
Our Enhanced Index Strategy is a smart beta strategy that blends exposure to five select investment factors: high momentum, high value, high quality, low volatility, and small size. The strategy seeks to offer benefits from both passive and active investing approaches. Like passive investing, the strategy employs a longer term, lower turnover approach to investing in low-cost, index-based investment products. Like active investing, the strategy employs a tactical investment selection and allocation process. The result is a well-diversified, low-cost, and tax-efficient portfolio.
USEquity Income
Cozad US Equity Income strives for dividend yield, price appreciation and growth of dividends. Quality of management and value pricing are key variables in making buys and sells. The portfolio is concentrated, typically holding 60 stocks or less. The approach is top-down in weighting sectors and bottom up in searching for strong management, financials, and balance sheets. The goal is a relatively low correlation/beta with other midcap strategies and the broader US stock market. The portfolio historically outperforms in negative market environments and underperforms in strong market environments. As such it carries a low correlation with other, similar strategies.
InternationalEquity Income
Our International Equity Income Strategy invests in dividend-paying stocks from countries across the globe, excluding the United States, and representing a wide range of sectors and industries. The strategy overweights countries and regions with relatively strong economies as well as industries and sectors that are expected to do well in the near-term economic environment. The strategy employs a top-down approach, basing buy and sell decisions on changes in the world economies and fundamental, company-level research.
There are special risks associated with international investing, including currency fluctuations, political and economic uncertainty, foreign taxation, and different account standards.
